Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians across clinics in Akron area, including Akron, Barberton, Massillon, N. Canton, and Cuyahoga Falls. You will assist with patient intake, vital signs, and basic testing.

You will perform phlebotomy, injections, point-of-care tests, document procedures, and help with exams while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality. Prior clinic experience preferred; CPR certification required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a physician practice or clinic preferred.
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing: vision, audio, urine screens, EKGs, PFTs.
• Draw blood and collect lab samples; document results.
• Administer injections and document per policy.
• Perform point-of-care tests (strep, glucose, flu, pregnancy).
• Dispense medications and maintain sterile technique.
• Schedule records and assist with exams and testing.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Register patients and collect payments; coordinate referrals.
• Travel to care centers within the region.
