Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks across our Akron-area clinics. You will take patient histories, measure vital signs, perform screenings, phlebotomy, injections, point-of-care tests, and assist providers during exams and procedures.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred.
• Basic computer skills including use of EMR.
• Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic screenings and tests such as vision, hearing, urine screens, EKGs and PFTs.
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples and document results.
• Complete paperwork and computer documentation for lab tests.
• Administer injections per policy and document accordingly.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, influenza, glucose, etc.).
• Dispense medications and document treatment modalities.
• Maintain sterile technique and autoclave usage.
• Schedule records and coordinate ancillary care.
• Assist providers with exams and procedures and coordinate referrals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and equipment is functional.
