Job summary

Primary Health Care, Inc. (PHC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical care and administrative tasks across PHC clinics in Iowa.

You will float among West Side Clinic and Des Moines area sites, with occasional shifts in Ames or Marshalltown, Monday to Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, with possible evenings or Saturdays. A $0.50 float pay and a $5 shift differential apply for certain shifts, plus mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in medical assisting, patient care technician, CNA, phlebotomy, or related clinical position or completion of medical assisting program.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills with ability for a team approach to care.
• Organization and priority skills with detail orientation.
• Professional skills with ability to remain composed and show empathy.
• Basic computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and EHR.
• Licenses & Certifications: Current Basic Life Support for HealthCare Providers; current Mandatory Reporter approved for the State of Iowa.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with assigned Patient Care Team to provide healthcare in a clinic setting.
• Prepares for exam/procedure and assists provider; facilitates patient rooming and vital signs.
• Documents patient care accurately in the electronic health record and processes referrals.
• Performs point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines and administers medications, immunizations, and treatments per orders.
• Provides patient education appropriate to age and learning needs.
• Manages supply levels and handles cleaning and transport of instruments per infection control policies.
