We are currently recruiting for a Full Time Medical Assistant Float in Bridgeport, CT. This role will work in our Bridgeport clinics and involves evening and Saturday rotations.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant is a member of the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) care team responsible for working with providers, nurses, and other front office staff to ensure the complete and timely patient flow process. The role includes the following responsibilities:
- Administers health questionnaire to patients.
- Acts as a chaperone by accompanying the clinician in the exam room for any intimate exam.
- Updates patient information in Epic (EMR system).
- Manages in-basket messages.
- Takes patient history & vital signs.
- Prepares patients for exam & treatment.
- Prepares exam rooms with necessary equipment & supplies.
- Assists with scheduling of tests & treatments.
- Adheres to infection control and safety guidelines, and confidentiality and privacy policies.
- Maintains competency in the use of clinical equipment and procedure.
- Connects language interpretation service for the clinician when needed.
- Assists with administrative tasks as needed.
- Explores community resources available to meet the patient’s needs.
- Maintains ongoing networking efforts with community providers in the area.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
Job Qualification/Requirements
- Education: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program and/or CNA or PCT program.
- Experience: Experience in a clinical setting; familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is helpful.
- Language Skills: Bilingual: Spanish-English or English/Creole helpful; demonstrate the ability to effectively interpret medical terminology.
- Licensure / Certification: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or in process of acquiring certification is a plus; CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually.
- Professional qualities: Positive attitude, vision, understanding of customer service principles, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills to successfully accomplish tasks necessary to meet high standards of ethical and social responsibility.
