Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group in Wilton, CT is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Float Team to cover Primary and Specialty Care clinics regionally. The role involves clinical support, vitals, patient history, and administrative tasks across multiple offices, with travel as part of daily work.

The ideal candidate holds a Medical Assistant diploma or CT CNA/EMT certification with BLS, plus at least 1 year of direct patient care experience. EPIC EMR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification OR related experience.
• BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association obtained within 3 months of hire.
• All required credentials maintained throughout employment.
• At least 1 year of direct patient care experience; MA externship preferred; EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic clinical and clerical support in patient care within MA scope.
• Take vitals, reconcile medications and allergies, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
• Perform point-of-care testing with QC and documentation.
• Assist providers with in-house procedures as needed.
• Provide scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check-in/out, prior authorizations and transportation coordination.

Job Description

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

Clinical/Administrative Duties Included But Not Limited To

• Vitals, outside medication reconciliation, outside allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
• Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
• Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed
• Provides administrative support including but not limited to scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
• Floats to other offices based on business needs.

Qualifications

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Experience

• In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
• Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
