Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care & Occupational Health in Ohio is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in both clinical and administrative tasks across our Springfield N and Springfield S clinics. You will play a crucial role in patient care and ensure smooth clinic operations.

This position requires taking histories, vital signs, basic testing, phlebotomy, injections, and coordination of records while upholding HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years previous experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred
• Basic computer skills including Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Ability to function independently with discretion and good clinical judgment
• CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and vital signs
• Perform basic testing such as vision, audio, urine screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples
• Complete lab paperwork and documentation accurately
• Administer injections (subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular) and document per policy
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, flu, glucose, urinalysis)
• Dispense medications and maintain sterile technique
• Ensure proper autoclave use and equipment sterilization
• Coordinate records and referrals for ancillary care
• Assist providers during exams and procedures
• Conduct occupational medicine testing (drug screens, audiogram, DOT)
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and confidentiality of patient information
• Monitor equipment and report malfunctions
• Handle registration, insurance verifications, and payments
• Travel to care centers within designated region
• Train team members and support patient flow
• Maintain exam rooms and stock supplies
• Additional duties as assigned
