The Medical Assistant Float assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow and performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed. As a Float resource, the incumbent is required to work at 5+ different locations within their assigned area.

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and ensures proper identification.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Remains proficient with information technology systems within established scope of practice.
  • Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, performs EKGs and venipuncture/injections as needed.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  • Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.
  • Ability to travel to various locations.

Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire. BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some locations.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification is not required if transferring within Einstein with a hire date before 7/1/2024.
