Overview
Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) has served the community for more than 55 years, providing primary and specialty health care to over 227,000 patients each year, with a strong focus on low‑income, uninsured, and medically underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend in‑services or complete make‑up assignments.
- Maintain compliance with TJC, DHS, CHDP, and Medi‑Cal Managed Care requirements.
- Perform Waiver Testing and phlebotomy.
- Follow FHCSD policies and procedures to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures and assist providers as needed, supporting provider productivity.
- Manage clinic flow, schedule patient follow‑up appointments, communicate referral information, and provide discharge instructions.
- Respond to voicemails, route messages, and return phone calls in a timely manner.
- Record patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Administer medications, including injections, as assigned.
- Clean, process, and sterilize medical instruments.
- Collect and handle laboratory specimens appropriately.
- Apply 5S and continuous quality improvement methods in the workplace.
- Travel to locations as necessary to integrate into workflow and support clinic productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant diploma from an approved program required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Current American Heart Association CPR (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advanced Resuscitation Training required.
- At least 1 year of experience in an ambulatory care or similar setting highly preferred.
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co‑workers in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.
- Strong multitasking, flexibility, accuracy, and ability to meet changing priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑workload environment.
- Basic computer literacy and organizational skills, attention to detail, and time‑management skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Driver Requirements
- Driver age 21 with a valid license for a minimum of 3 years.
- No violations or accidents within the past 3 years.
- No vehicle‑related suspensions or reinstatements.
- No DUI, reckless driving, or felony driving records.
- Proof of liability and property damage insurance on the vehicle used for work.
- Ability and means to travel in a timely manner within San Diego County to locations that may have limited access to public transportation.
Compensation and Benefits
Job type: Regular Full Time. Competitive salary range: $29.00 – $33.67 per hour. Benefits include:
