Job summary

Memorial Jacksonville Trauma, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient preparation, vitals, injections and basic lab tasks in a day-shift setting.

You will assist physicians during minor procedures, maintain stocked exam rooms, answer calls and coordinate referrals. One year of clinical experience and MA certification are required or pursued within a defined timeframe.

Qualifications

• One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience.
• Certification required: MA certification (RMA/CCMA/CMA/NCMA/NRCMA/ABR-OE) or eligible to obtain within 60 days OR within one year of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking histories and vital signs.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies/equipment including sterilization.
• Administer injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
• Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.
• Answer telephone calls and screen referrals.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Full time (Monday - Friday, days), no nights, no on call, no weekends, no holidays

What you will do in this role:

You will prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs

You will prepare exam and treatment rooms with the necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization

You will give injections andassistwith lab testing and phlebotomy

You willassistphysicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals

You will answer telephone calls to the practice and screens for referral

What Qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE:

One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: 3 ways to qualify

Medical AssistantCertificationisrequired. Acceptable certifications are RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, NRCMA certification, or ABR-OE credentials is acceptableOR

Medical Assistants who recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from a Medical Assisting training program must obtain Medical Assistant certification within60 daysof employment.OR

Candidates/incumbents with one year of Medical Assistant work experience who do notpossessMedical Assistant Certification must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within one year of hire date.
