Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Foundation, part of CommonSpirit Health, in Grass Valley, CA, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient flow and prepare charts for examinations. You will assist with procedures, relay physician instructions, and help maintain EMR data accurately.

The role emphasizes empathy, teamwork, and continuous growth within a multi-site health system that serves communities throughout California, Arizona and Nevada.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification at hire.
• Six months outpatient Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and assist with procedures.
• Administer medications as directed and record vital signs accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment and support the care team.
• Manage patient records and EMR documentation.
• Communicate patient concerns to physicians, PAs or nurses.
• Coordinate with physicians, insurers and pharmacies to obtain medication authorizations.

As a Medical Assistant at Dignity Health Medical Foundation clinics, now part of CommonSpirit Health, you’ll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. You’ll take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts- ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site. This position is represented by the SEIU-UHW.

• Assisting in preparing patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to a patient or authorized person, and collecting patient data
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician and performing accurate vital sign measurements and documentation.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performing patient care services that support the physician / provider's practice under the clinical supervision of the Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant, or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• Comfortable managing medical records- charts and EMR
• Communicate and document any patient concerns to physicians, physician’s assistants, or nurses
• Work with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to obtain authorizations for patient medication, including refills

As a Float Medical Assistant you will be assigned to various clinic locations based upon business need.

*Job Requirements**Required*

• High School Graduate General Studies or GED General Studies
• Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by Dignity Health Medical Foundation H.R. department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions.)
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

• Six (6) month’s experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred., upon hire
