Job summary

Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Float e Medical Assistant to provide coverage across ambulatory primary care practices. You will support clinical staff by performing pre-visit planning, reviewing reports for gaps, scheduling follow-ups, and completing health maintenance tasks.

You will obtain and document vital signs, patient histories, and assist with procedures, specimen collection, EKGs, phlebotomy, and immunization tracking, maintaining accurate records and a safe exam environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have NYS driver7s license.
  • Associates degree preferred; Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support patient care through pre-visit planning, reviewing reports for gaps, scheduling follow-ups, and health maintenance/registry work.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, screenings, medication lists, and perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs with accurate documentation.
  • Assist providers with procedures, specimen collection, patient education, order entry, medication refills, and prior authorization requests.
  • Maintain exam rooms and clinical equipment by restocking supplies, checking calibration, preparing instruments for sterilization, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
  • Collaborate with providers and nursing staff while maintaining adult and pediatric primary care competencies to ensure high-quality patient care.

Job Title: Medical Assistant - FloatDepartment: Primary CareLocation: FloatHours Per Week: 40Schedule: 8:00AM-4:30PMSUMMARY: The Float – Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible to float to ambulatory practices within primary care where a need has been identified. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.PAY RANGE:$17.85 - $20.00CITY:RochesterPOSTAL CODE:14611The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
