Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Medical Assistant in Chicago to support physicians, nurses and staff by facilitating patient flow, assisting with care activities and handling related administrative tasks. The role requires a high school diploma and certification in an approved MA program or eligibility, plus BLS/CPR and 0–2 years of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current certification in one of CMA/AMT/NCCT/NHA/NRCMA or eligible to write one of these exams.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• 0–2 years' experience in a relevant role.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient flow and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Records vital signs, reason for visit, allergies and pharmacy information.
• Notifies provider of significant changes in vitals or symptoms.
• Prepares exam rooms and supplies; maintains cleanliness and safety.
• Assists with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations as directed.
• Performs delegated procedures safely and efficiently.
