Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado's South Campus seeks a Medical Assistant to provide both clinical and administrative support for outpatient pediatric specialties. You will assist care providers, take vital signs, perform phlebotomy, and help with exams and procedures.

Responsibilities include onboarding new staff, maintaining patient confidentiality, coordinating clinic flow, and documenting in MyChart. Schedule is Mon–Fri 7:30am–5:00pm with occasional Saturdays; benefits eligibility may vary.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program or have equivalent experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and maintain patient confidentiality.

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visits.
  • Take vital signs and document in medical records.
  • Assist providers with exams and procedures and prepare specimens.
  • Perform phlebotomy and ensure timely lab follow-up.
  • Coordinate clinic flow and communicate with providers.
  • Serve as preceptor for onboarding new staff and training.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Enroll patients in MyChart and handle referrals/pre-authorizations.

Job Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical support to patients and assists care providers with clinical and administrative support.

Additional Information
  • Location/Dept: South Campus
  • Job Details: Flex - not eligible for benefits
  • Shift: Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm. Expected 2-3 shifts per week. No holidays, some Saturday morning shifts may be available. MA will support a wide variety of outpatient pediatric specialties.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains professional boundaries and collaborates effectively within the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Manages general office tasks such as phone and fax communication.
  • Serves as preceptor for onboarding new staff, including training, skill validation, and progress monitoring.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and compliant work environment by following and enforcing protocols and regulations.
  • Protects patient confidentiality and upholds all professional and organizational standards.
  • Prepares patients for visits by escorting them to exam rooms, providing gowns, and setting up instruments and supplies.
  • Interviews patients, reviews medical history, takes vital signs, and confirms visit purpose; reports concerns to care provider.
  • Assists providers with exams and procedures; prepares specimens, performs basic tests, administers medications, and ensures proper instrument cleaning.
  • Coordinates clinic flow by balancing workloads, monitoring patient movement, and communicating with providers.
  • Performs phlebotomy and ensures timely follow-up on lab tests and documentation.
  • Records patient data, treatments, and results in the medical record; assists with MyChart enrollment.
  • Provides standardized patient education as directed by the provider.
  • Initiates referrals and insurance pre-authorizations independently.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Area of Study
    • and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Experience
    • Minimum Experience Required :None
  • Equivalency
    • One year experience in health care may substitute for Medical Assistant graduation.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Basic Life Support
  • Additional Requirements
    • BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $23.76
