Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice Medical Assistant.
In this role, the successful candidate will assist physicians, Advanced Care Practitioners, and nurses in providing patient care. Responsibilities include validating patient identifiers, preparing patients and rooms, measuring and recording vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting lab samples. The Medical Assistant will also handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering calls, and data entry.
Job Responsibilities:
Additional clinical and administrative responsibilities include obtaining patient vital signs, maintaining patient flow, ensuring infection control standards, supporting patient education on MyChart, assisting with specimen collection, performing point-of-care testing, preparing patient encounters, updating medical records, maintaining privacy per HIPAA, managing patient communications, and supporting clinical quality management.
Patient experience and access are prioritized through embodying NYU Langone's CARES principles, greeting patients professionally, collaborating with colleagues, and proactively improving patient interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or current certification from a recognized organization (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA). Must have proficiency in English, computer skills, and the ability to multitask in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a Medical Assistant, with skills in EKG, phlebotomy, and venipuncture preferred.
Effective communication skills across all organizational levels are essential.
