Job summary

Mercyhealth Whitewater seeks a qualified Medical Assistant for the Family Practice Clinic. You will prepare patients, assist clinicians during examinations, manage records and appointments, and coordinate referrals.

Responsibilities include lab in-bpo work, handling phone calls, patient check-in/out, and ensuring supplies are stocked. Requires ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited MA program and CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited medical assistant program or equivalent postsecondary program with proper accreditation.
  • Current CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification or eligibility as listed in the advertisement.
  • CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

## Medical Assistant, Family Practice ClinicApply: Mercyhealth Whitewater - Whitewater, WI: Full time: Posted Today: 2026-02529**OVERVIEW**This role involves preparing and assisting patients during appointments, collecting information, scheduling visits, handling phone calls, and maintaining accurate patient records. It also includes coordinating referrals, collecting payments, helping with medical procedures and lab work, and keeping the clinic organized and well supplied.**SCHEDULE**: 36-hours per week**SHIFT**: Days, Monday-Friday**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need.* Assists in examination, treatment and other clinic procedures.* Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects.* Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel.* Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.* Conducts reminder calls to all patients.* Greet and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors.* Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate.* Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart.* Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.* Collects payment from patients and issues receipt.* Prepares and maintains patient charts.* Maintains and orders supplies.**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a post secondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education, or a graduate of an educational program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), such as the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Experience in a program with a clinical rotation preferred.**CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE**Required current CMA certification through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) or NCMA Certification through the NCCT that have also completed the education requirements. Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days. Medication injection training and pharmacology is a required competency to perform medication administration.**LEVEL OF SUPERVISION**Some independent judgment is required, but decisions are limited by standard practices or procedures.**PAY RANGE:**$19.79 - $28.69Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
