Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is a key member of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) office team, working under the supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. The role requires performing safe clinical skills within the scope of practice of the MA-C. The MA-C will have continuous contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients, and their families/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities, including:
  • Organizing patient flow with front office staff
  • Interviewing patients
  • Obtaining vital signs
  • Assisting patients with exams or treatments
  • Performing specimen collection, including venipuncture
  • Administering medications per Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency
  • Relaying instructions to patients and families/caregivers
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities, including:
  • Managing patient medical records
  • Facilitating patient referrals
  • Preparing forms for patients

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)
• Minimum of one (1) year healthcare experience preferred
