Job summary

PIH Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Family Medicine Residency in Whittier. The role supports patient care under supervision, performs clinical tasks, and handles referrals and record-keeping while floating between departments as needed.

Candidate must have MA training, strong clinical skills, and knowledge of EHR. The position requires travel between departments and adherence to PIH Health standards in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Competency validation by a PIH Health supervising physician if a practice is being acquired.
• Must have no less than 10 years’ experience with the stated physician/practice.
• Minimum six (6) months of front and back medical office experience required.
• Two (2) years of front and back medical office experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License if hiring into Medical Assistant Float Pool.
• Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced situations with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in clinical tasks across departments and potentially float between areas.
• Process outside referrals (HMO/PPO) and notify concerned parties of outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure patient safety and privacy.
• Utilize EHR and practice management systems for data entry and record keeping.
