Hillcrest HealthCare System in Claremore, OK is seeking a Day shift, full-time Family Medicine Medical Assistant (MA) to join our care team.

As a Medical Assistant, you will support patient visits, enter and report medical history in EMR, prepare exam rooms, assist with referrals, manage supplies, and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic EMR and MS Office knowledge.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Enter, maintain, and report medical history in EMR.
• Greet patients, escort to exam room, and take vital signs.
• Sterilize and prep medical instruments; maintain clean, ready exam rooms.
• Assist in inventory control and stocking of supplies for exam rooms.
• Handle referrals and insurance authorizations; coordinate with pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant:

The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.

• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients, and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients’ vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
• Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Associate’s degree.
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or two years of MA experience.
• Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
