Job description

Medical Assistant - Family Medicine - Detroit NW - Union Position - Full Time

Under the supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical tasks to support quality patient care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms
  • Obtaining medical histories
  • Measuring and recording vital signs
  • Preparing patients for examinations or procedures
  • Assisting providers during examinations or procedures

Shift Hours:

Location: 7800 Outer Dr W, Detroit, MI 48235

Education/Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Clinical skills related to ambulatory care preferred
  • Problem-solving and communication skills preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA/CMA, AMT RMA, NCCT CCMA, or NHA NCMA preferred

Additional Requirements:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a clinical externship (minimum 160 hours), or

Experience as a Medical Assistant within the past five years, or

Current recognized Medical Assistant Certification with at least five years of experience, or

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or

Licensed Paramedic/EMT with one year of recent clinical experience, or

Military-trained medical personnel with recent clinical experience.

Certifications/Licenses Required:

  • Current BLS-C certification upon hire or by end of orientation
