The medical assistant performs assigned tasks of direct and indirect care in the ambulatory setting to meet patient care needs under the supervision of a physician or assigned supervisor. They participate as a team member, accepting delegation from RNs or physicians, and perform tasks according to the patient care plan, policies, procedures, and principles of relationship-based care. Tasks are within the scope of law for unlicensed health care personnel.
High school diploma or GED, with graduation from a Medical Assistant program or holding an active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA). Must maintain current BLS certification from AHA or ARC, unless not required based on work location. Excellent communication skills, team experience, computer proficiency, and flexibility are required. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations is essential.
