Job Details

Job Title: Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant Float assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and recording vitals. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies as needed. As a Float, the incumbent works at 5+ locations within their area.

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson's values.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and verifies identification.
• Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history.
• Remains proficient with IT systems within scope of practice.
• Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, may perform EKG and venipuncture/injections.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures.
• Ability to travel to various locations.

Education & Experience:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire (American Heart Association preferred; Red Cross acceptable in some PA locations).
• Experience in healthcare setting preferred.
• For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in injections.
• For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification not required for current employees transferring within Einstein before 7/1/2024.
