Job Description

New Hire Bonus for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities:

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and recording vitals. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed.

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and verifies proper identification.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Remains proficient with and knowledgeable of the use and documentation within IT systems within scope of practice.
  • Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, and may perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections using appropriate skills.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  • Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire. BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania locations.
  • Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required if the applicant is a current Einstein employee in a Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.
