UC San Diego Health in San Diego, CA is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support ambulatory care in a fast-paced specialty clinic. Under supervision of a registered nurse and the Practice Manager, you will room patients, record vitals, assist with procedures, and participate in point-of-care testing.
The role requires initiative, teamwork, and the ability to handle high-volume Epic in-basket messages.
Under direction of the supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department reporting to the Practice Manager, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes, rooming patients in-person and virtually; record vital statistics on patients as directed, including height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate and basal metabolic index, and track such measurements, ensuring each patient's privacy. Assist in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient procedures, administering medications, point of care testing including glucose monitoring and HbA1c testing, collecting and preparing laboratory tests and specimens, and patient education.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a fast pace ambulatory specialty setting and have experience managing high volume Epic in-basket messages. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment, maintain positive relationships with patients, family members, other visitors, and fellow employees. Job standards are to be performed at the expert level. Other related duties as assigned.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Requires knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $56,063 - $74,020 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.85 - $35.45
