Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient examinations by collecting vital signs, recording medical history, and preparing examination rooms. The role includes phlebotomy, vaccines, EKGs, and basic tests under physician supervision in a busy outpatient environment.

You will also screen calls, schedule appointments, and assist at the front desk while maintaining supplies and equipment calibration.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; MA program or Virtua MA program.
• Current Medical Assistant certification and BLS certification required.
• 0-2 years of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exam by obtaining vital signs, chief complaint, and preparing exam room.
• Perform phlebotomy, vaccines, and complete required documentation. Conduct EKG, pulmonary function tests as directed.
• Screen and direct patient calls; notify patients regarding prescriptions and results under physician supervision.
• Perform daily regulatory testing and document to ensure equipment accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain par level of clinical supplies for the facility.
• Assist with front desk duties such as registering patients, billing, and scheduling.

Job Information:

Summary:

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education:

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate:

$19.54 - $29.20

The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
