Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient examinations by taking vital signs, collecting history, and preparing the patient for the physician’s evaluation. The role includes phlebotomy, immunizations, as well as assisting with tests under physician supervision.

You will also handle workflow tasks such as scheduling, patient calls, and basic front-desk duties, ensuring a smooth, compliant clinical environment across multiple sites in South Jersey.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant.
• In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam.
• Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Education

HS diploma or equivalent

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant

Summary:

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education:

HS diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.

BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
