Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams at our South Jersey locations. The role involves preparing patients for exams, documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and assisting providers.

You will perform phlebotomy, vaccinate patients, run tests (EKG/PFT), and handle routine front desk duties. Candidate should have a Medical Assistant program graduate with MA certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing; administers vaccines and completes required documentation; conducts tests such as EKG and PFT as directed.
• Screens and directs patient calls per protocol; communicates prescriptions and testing results under physician supervision.
• Performs daily regulatory testing and maintains equipment accuracy and compliance.
• Maintains clinical supply par levels for the facility.
• Performs front desk duties such as patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Summary

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education

HS diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.

BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
