Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha, NE, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Diabetes and Endocrine clinic at Methodist Physicians Clinic. The position is full-time (32 hours per week) with a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday schedule from 7:30am to 4:00pm, on site.
You will document labs and appointments, educate patients, perform telephone triage, maintain a clean work area, handle prescription renewals, and provide age-appropriate patient care as directed by providers.

Work Shift: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30am - 4pm, full time, 32hrs/week
Education Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program required. Program must include an externship/preceptorship in a clinical setting OR must have 6 months of current experience working in the capacity of a medical assistant. OR Currently enrolled in a nursing program with half of nursing courses completed required. Transcripts must be provided indicating classes have been passed.
Experience 6 months previous medical assistant experience preferred.
License/Certifications Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire. Medication Aide Registry (MAR or MAR.40) required within 2 months of hire date.
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures required. Skill to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Skill to proficiently type information into the computer to capture or detail information quickly. Ability to provide caring patient care services when talking with patients and their family members. Ability to critically listen to questions from patients and information from providers to convey information effectively. Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems before they occur and avoid bigger problems in the future. Ability to problem solve during several daily activities which includes the ability to be flexible. Ability to learn and proficiently navigate through computer programs that contain patient information. Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with providers, staff and patients required. Able to follow written and verbal instructions/directions required. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) understanding.
