Job summary

Legacy Dermatology Group is seeking an exceptional medical assistant to join our clinical team at two Oakland County locations. This hands‑on role supports dermatology procedures, including biopsies and Mohs surgery, with a focus on accuracy, efficient patient flow, and high‑quality documentation.

Our team values quick learning, meticulous care, and compassionate patient interactions. Schedule is Monday–Thursday 8:00–4:30, Friday 8:00–1:00, with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer and EHR proficiency; typing proficiency.
• Reliable transportation between Highland and Waterford locations.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA certification or completion of a medical assistant program preferred; dermatology experience or health science training.

Responsibilities

• Room, prep, and interview patients — accurate history, current medications, reason for visit.
• Assist with biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, injections, and Mohs surgery.
• Set up/break down sterile trays; label specimens; maintain sterilization logs.
• Document in real time in the EHR and manage provider inbox tasks.
• Capture clinical photography and obtain signed consents for procedures.
• Call patients with pathology results and post-operative instructions.
• Keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and turned over.

Legacy Dermatology Group is a physician-owned dermatology practice with two Oakland County locations. We treat skin cancer, provide complex medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, Mohs micrographic surgery and aesthetic medicine. Our medical assistants are not order-takers. They are the second set of hands and the second brain in every room, and the pace of our clinic reflects that.

We are looking for one exceptional medical assistant to join our clinical team. This is a hands-on role in a small, tightly run practice where good work is noticed immediately.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Room, prep, and interview patients — accurate history, current medications, and a clear reason for the visit before the provider walks in.
• Assist directly with in-office procedures: biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, injections, and Mohs micrographic surgery.
• Set up and break down sterile trays, handle and label specimens for our on-site lab, and maintain instrument sterilization logs.
• Document in real time in our MODERN electronic health record and manage the provider's inbox tasks — results, refills, and patient messages — so nothing sits.
• Capture clinical and before-and-after photography and obtain signed consents for every procedure.
• Call patients with pathology results and post-operative instructions under provider direction.
• Keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and turned over.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: High school diploma or equivalent; strong written and verbal communication; basic computer and EHR proficiency; typing proficiency; reliable transportation between our Highland and Waterford locations

Preferred: CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification; completion of a medical assistant program; prior clinical, surgical, or dermatology experience; coursework or a degree in a health science field. Certification is preferred but not required — the right candidate with the right aptitude will be trained.
