Work Hours:

Monday - Friday, starting as early as 6:30 am and ending as late as 6:30 pm (rotating shifts based on the physicians' schedule). 40 hours per week.

Job Overview:

The Medical Assistant supports Northwestern Medicine's mission, vision, and values, adhering to the Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and all relevant policies and standards. The role involves supporting physicians, nurses, and other medical staff by facilitating patient flow, assisting with patient care activities, and performing administrative duties. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean environment, promoting patient satisfaction, and safeguarding confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure efficient patient flow: escort patients, obtain vital signs, document visit reasons, and prepare exam rooms.
2. Assist practitioners with procedures like ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, and waived testing.
3. Maintain high-quality care: prepare exam rooms, monitor equipment, manage supplies, and adhere to safety protocols.
4. Promote patient satisfaction through professional interaction and communication.
5. Perform delegated procedures safely and effectively.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Proof of eligibility for certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA).
• For new graduates within 6 months: a letter from school or certifying body.
• For non-certified or graduates beyond 6 months: a certifying body letter.
• Within 6 months of employment, complete one of the following certifications: CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or NRCMA.
• High school diploma or GED.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• Strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• 1-2 years of ambulatory care experience.
• Experience with electronic medical records.
