Job summary

Dermatology Specialists is seeking Pre-Med/Pre-PA students to join as Clinical Dermatology Technicians (Derm Tech). The role supports physicians, performs rooming, patient prep, and clinical tasks, with on-site training and reimbursement for a 16-hour Derm Tech course before starting.

Starting pay is $20.00/hour for a full-time position. Work involves assisting with biopsies and select surgical and cosmetic procedures, patient education, and maintaining the pathology process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in science-based program required.
• Previous medical field experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming techniques and assist physicians with procedures.
• Prepare patients for examinations and obtain history per physician instructions.
• Assist physicians with biopsies and select surgical and cosmetic procedures.
• Take patient phone calls and relay information between patient and physician.
• Maintain pathology process accurately and completely.
• Assist with suture removal, dressing changes, and patch testing as ordered.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, procedures and medications.
• Sterilize equipment and rooms using appropriate sterilizers.
• Triaging patients and coordinating needs with supporting teams.
• Document patient needs concisely and clearly.

Job Summary

Dermatology Specialists is looking for Pre-Med and Pre-PA students who are taking a gap year prior to medical school/PA school to work as a Clinical Dermatology Technician (Derm Tech). The Clinical Derm Tech will work directly with the Clinical Manager and Physician in providing dermatological services and excellent patient care. All training will be provided on site, as well as a reimbursement for a 16-hour Derm Tech online course completed before starting. The rate of pay is starting at $20.00/hour for a full-time position.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Perform rooming techniques and assisting physicians with procedures
• Performing clinical tasks to support physicians such as: preparing patients for examinations as directed by the physician, obtaining history and chief complaint for office visit, assisting physicians with biopsies, and assisting physicians with select surgical and cosmetic procedures
• Taking patient phone calls and relaying information between patient and physician
• Accurately maintain the pathology process in its entirety
• Select clinical procedures such as suture removal, dressing changes, and patch testing as ordered by the physician
• Patient education as directed by the physician on treatment plans, procedures and medications
• Sterilization of equipment, supplies, exam and procedure rooms using germicides, sterilizer or autoclave
• Assign a triage priority based upon information available
• Coordinate the needs of the patient with supporting pods and assist in problem solving related to the welfare of the patient
• Document concisely, descriptively and legibly indicating patents’ needs
• Other duties as assigned
