Job summary

Wythe County Community Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support Specialty Services in a full-time, in-person role in Wytheville, VA. You will conduct routine clinical and administrative tasks under physician or nurse supervision, including patient assessments, specimen collection, and documentation. Excellent patient care and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and completion of an accredited MA program. BLS is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent.
• Requires critical thinking and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain examination areas.
• Perform administrative duties: filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
