Job summary

Avance Care in Cary, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our primary care team. You will greet patients, triage calls, take vitals, document allergies, and support front-office activities while safeguarding patient privacy under HIPAA.

You will assist with clinical tasks including rooming patients, administering medications and vaccines, drawing blood, performing EKGs and POCT, and helping with routine in-office procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in Medical Assisting strongly preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of hands-on clinical experience, highly preferred.
• Active certification is strongly preferred (CMA, CCMA, RMA, or EMT).
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong technical/administrative adaptability, and a patient-centered mindset needed.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet patients, triage calls, handle patient’s follow-ups, log Telephone Encounters (TEs), and protect data privacy under strict HIPAA laws.
• Escort patients to rooms, record vital signs, document allergies, note chief complaints and medication changes.
• Administer medications through multiple routes, assist with vaccinations and injections responsibilities. Aid with medication refills to pharmacies along with prior authorizations.
• Labs & POCT: Perform venipunctures, collect and label specimens, execute EKGs, and various point-of-care testing (POCT).
• Clinical Procedures: Contribute in performing diverse in office procedures such as ear irrigation, spirometry, wound care, and surgical assisting.
• Room & Tool Upkeep: Sterilize, wrap, and autoclave surgical instruments. Order and stock supplies while auditing exam rooms for sanitization, and disposing biohazard materials.
