Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a contingent role based in Royal Oak, MI, with coverage at additional Henry Ford Health locations as needed. The position offers morning to early-evening shifts (6:30 am–5:00 pm), 2–3 days per week, and occasional Saturdays.

You will work under providers to support patient care in ambulatory settings. The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED, EPIC EMR experience, and MA certification preferably (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA).

This is a contingent position with Royal Oak as Primary / main site and person is required to cover two other sites as per need

What You Will Do

• Greet and escort patients to the exam room, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment.
• Take medical histories and measure/record vital signs to assist in patient assessments.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring they are informed and at ease.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support and tools.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in performing a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.

• Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA/CMA),American Medical Technologists (RMA),National Health Career Associations Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), andNational Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).OR

Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.OR

Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).OR

Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.OR

Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
