Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Hamtramck is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for the Comprehensive Care Clinic to support providers and ensure a smooth patient experience.

You will perform administrative and clinical tasks, greet patients, document medical histories, measure vital signs, prepare for exams, and assist with procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum).
• Current Professionally Recognized MA Certification or a year of clinical medical assisting experience, or LPN/EMT experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming environment.
• Obtain and record accurate medical histories from patients.
• Measure and document vital signs for patient assessments.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and readiness.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years, OR
  • Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years, OR
  • Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
