UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support Complete Primary Care Associates - Brentwood.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Location: Brentwood, with up to 40% travel required

Responsibilities:

  • Check schedules and organize patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history; take vitals, perform screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families.
  • Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other regulations.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Keep records of scheduled maintenance and inventory supplies; restock exam/procedure rooms.
  • Comply with requirements of regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain confidentiality of medical records and data. Follow all UPMC policies and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.
  • Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education as directed.
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms and requisitions. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and organize charts to ensure information is complete and filed correctly. Perform other front office duties as required.
  • Under supervision of a physician, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
