Job summary

OSUP Community Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care and routine procedures according to clinical protocols. You will room patients, record vital signs, complete interviews, and prepare patients for examinations under physician direction.

The role includes assisting in examinations, carrying out treatments, preparing equipment, collecting samples, and managing the medical office inbox to ensure timely communication with patients and providers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with a MA program diploma or related experience.
• At least 1 year of medical assisting experience or equivalent training.
• Military Medic, EMT-P, or related combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

Purpose:

The Medical Assistant roles assist with direct patient care, and perform specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. Assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
• Manage and organize the medical office's inbox, ensuring timely and accurate communication with patients, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the reception of incoming patient information and gather necessary data for healthcare providers.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following:

• A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
• Military Medic training OR
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences:

• Medical Assistant Certification
