The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Ambulatory Services | General Surgery in Upper Arlington seeks a certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide clinical and administrative support, assisting physicians, nurses and staff in patient care and documentation.
Responsibilities include preparing patients, taking vitals, collecting specimens, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining orderly exam rooms to support a positive patient experience and efficient care delivery.
A Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the medical office or hospital. This position will support physicians, providers, nurses and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, documentation, and communication with a focus on patient experience, quality, and efficiency. The Medical Assistant will support the patient care treatment process by assisting the physicians, nurse practitioners and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services. The Medical Assistant may be expected to perform multiple advanced clinical support tasks without supervision. Medical Assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. This position will arrange examining-room instruments and equipment, maintain supplies and equipment, and keep waiting and examining rooms neat and clean. The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. This position prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
High School graduate and successful completion of a Medical Assistant Training Program. Medical Assistant certification is required with the approved certifications (i.e. CMA, NRCMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA). 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
Location: Outpatient Care Upper Arlington (1005). Position Type: Regular. Scheduled Hours: 40. Shift: First Shift. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
