Job summary

UPMC Great Lakes Surgical Specialists is seeking a Medical Assistant to join a busy, multi-specialty team in Erie. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with no holidays, evenings, or weekend shifts required.

The position offers exposure to multiple specialties and responsibilities. Typical duties include patient intake, phlebotomy, EKGs, chart management, scheduling, and adherence to HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with clinical tasks in a fast-paced medical setting.
• Ability to schedule, triage, and document patient information in medical records.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Guide workflow and assign tasks to clinical staff as needed.
• Assist management with supervisory activities and department goals.
• Serve as department super user for Epic Care and ensure accurate patient records.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical/non-clinical processes and infection control.
• Lead staff meetings to communicate procedural changes and service quality.
