Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant I to provide clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced health system. The role involves performing venipuncture, EKGs, taking vital signs, and assisting physicians with procedures across ambulatory settings.

The ideal candidate has a medical assistant certificate and high school diploma, with 3–9 months of healthcare experience and BCLS certification.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
3–9 months of healthcare experience preferred; venipuncture and EKG skills required.
Certificate of Medical Assistant training or equivalent.
BCLS certification from a recognized issuing authority.

Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs; assist with patient flow and preparation for exams.
Fulfills clerical duties: manage records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, and handle forms and requisitions.
Enter orders into the EMR system and process prescription refill requests as needed.
Inventory and restock medical supplies; ensure proper sterilization and room setup.
Maintain patient examination rooms and follow infection control policies and PPE requirements.
Assist in scheduling surgeries/procedures and coordinating with Surgical Coordinator.
May perform phlebotomy duties and verify/update patient demographics and insurance information.
