The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of the physician and supervision of the lead nurse in an ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
2. Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
3. Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
4. Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.
5. Gathers patient data through interview and observation.
6. Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.
7. Assists the physician during examination and procedures.
8. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.
9. Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types.
10. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies.
11. Acts as a liaison for the patient to schedule tests or consultations, providing scheduling information.
12. Processes incoming and outgoing calls professionally, using sound clinical judgment.
13. Ensures compliance with Orlando Health policies, procedures, and standards.
14. Maintains personal and patient safety practices, adhering to infection control standards.
15. Maintains regular, punctual attendance per policies and regulations.
16. Follows all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
