Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the healthcare team, providing direct patient care. They perform routine administrative and patient support duties to assist medical and nursing staff and ensure smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities

• Accompany patients to exam rooms and prepare them for exams
• Perform and document vital signs
• Assist with procedures and prepare/administer medications with physician’s authorization
• Perform EKGs, draw blood, and provide patient education on policies, medications, and disease management
• Stock exam rooms, clean rooms and instruments, dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA standards, and maintain accurate documentation
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and regulations

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of related customer-facing experience (Required)
• Healthcare experience (Preferred)

Skills and Abilities

• Computer skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, visitors, and staff
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently
• Phlebotomy skills and experience

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (AMAA), Medical Assistant (AMT), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCT) - Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
