The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the physician's direction and the lead nurse's supervision in an ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvements.
  • Supports effective and professional communication with patients and families.
  • Collaborates with administrative and operations staff.
  • Gathers patient data through interviews and observations.
  • Assists patients and families with preparation for examinations.
  • Assists physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in specific tasks as defined by the practice.
  • Provides routine treatments and administers approved medications.
  • Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and education per policies.
  • Acts as a liaison for scheduling and patient communication regarding testing and specialty consultations.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing calls professionally using sound clinical judgment.
  • Ensures compliance with Orlando Health policies and standards.
  • Practices safety and infection control standards.
  • Maintains punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  • Follows all policies and procedures.
