Job summary

Ottumwa Regional, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to float among clinics, supporting clinical and administrative tasks with a patient-centered approach. The role emphasizes flexibility, accuracy, and teamwork to ensure seamless care across sites.

Requirements include CMA/RMA/CCMA licensure within 60 days and BLS within 30 days; education options include a high school diploma (or equivalent) with preferred associate degree. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred; Associate degree preferred).
• License: CMA or RMA or CCMA via the AAMA or NHA must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitor changes in patient condition.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; stock, clean and troubleshoot; manage examination areas.
• Perform administrative duties including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
• Exhibit exceptional customer service with patients and teammates.

What We're Looking For

The Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office and reports to the Practice Manager.

How You'll Contribute

• Under the supervision of physicians or nurses, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
• Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Exhibits exceptional customer service with patients and teammates.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred; Associate degree Preferred

License: CMA or RMA or CCMA via the AAMA or NHA must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
