ZoomCare is seeking a Medical Assistant - Centralized Support Team to join our team! The Medical Assistant (MA) - Centralized Support Team is responsible for ensuring a smooth patient experience by managing prescription refills, medication prior authorizations, addressing patient calls, and responding to inquiries through ZoomCare’s secure online medical portal. The MA will work closely with a collaborative team to deliver prompt, accurate, and efficient care to patients.

Schedule and Training

  • Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm remote
  • This position requires 4-6 weeks of in-person training, starting at our Sellwood location and then traveling around the Portland metro area.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in processing prescription refill requests, ensuring timely medication delivery and coordinating with clinicians.
  • Support medication prior authorizations by working with insurance providers and facilitating communication among patients, providers, and pharmacies.
  • Answer and triage incoming patient calls, providing guidance and directing urgent matters appropriately.
  • Manage patient requests via ZoomCare's portal, handling non-urgent concerns like scheduling and inquiries.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate medication management and resolve prescription or patient care issues.
  • Provide clear instructions and information to patients regarding medications and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions in compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and privacy standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current licensure/certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or similar credential.
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical assistant role, preferably in telehealth or outpatient settings.
  • Familiarity with prescription refills, prior authorizations, and administrative healthcare tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, professional and compassionate.
  • Experience with EHR and online portals.
  • Proficient in Adobe, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Slack, or similar.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
  • Experience with insurance prior authorization preferred.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Basic clinical terminology knowledge.
