Position Overview

The Medical Assistant Certified I collaborates with providers and advanced providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include facilitating timely patient interactions, assisting with exams, procedures, and tests under supervision, and supporting a Medical Home environment.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  1. Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain vital signs, and review pertinent patient information and history in preparation for provider consultation.
  2. Administer diagnostic tests and procedures such as immunizations, as approved by physicians.
  3. Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care.
  4. Update the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with relevant patient information.
  5. Adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment with effective time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  6. Schedule patient appointments, answer phone calls, and follow up with patients and families professionally and courteously.
  7. Participate in site-specific and clinic-wide initiatives regularly.
  8. Attend and actively engage in huddles and team meetings.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times.
  10. Provide excellent patient interactions through clear communication and problem-solving skills.
  11. Maintain professional conduct within the office environment.
  12. Ensure punctuality, regular attendance, and dependability.

Qualifications
Education / Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6-12 months of clinical experience or relevant coursework at an accredited vocational school, or a combination thereof, required.
  • Medical assistant certification/license preferred (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, EMT, or LPN). If not certified, the candidate must obtain certification within 6 months of hire and maintain it.
  • Prior EMR experience preferred.
  • CPR and basic life support certification required and must be kept current.
