Responsibilities:

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow and performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and taking vital signs. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies as needed for their area.

  • Interacts professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, reflecting Jefferson's values.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and verifies proper identification.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Maintains proficiency with information technology systems within the scope of practice.
  • Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including EKGs and venipuncture/injections, ensuring quality care.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
  • Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and support office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some locations.
  • Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification is not required if the employee is currently in a Medical Assistant role at Einstein with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.
