Job summary

Baptist Health Cardiology is seeking a Medical Assistant for on-site support in Paducah, KY. You will provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic, obtain vitals, reconcile medications, collect history, and coordinate tests while supporting EPIC EMR usage.

Role may involve EKGs, labs, injections, and phlebotomy after clinical competency. Requires high school diploma or MA program completion; BLS, BAT/DOT within 90 days; MA certification or LPN/RN licensure preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year MA experience in a medical office or clinic.
• Direct patient care including vital signs, history and medications.
• Completion of accredited MA program with hands-on experience.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in outpatient cardiology clinic.
• Obtain vitals, reconcile meds, document patient history.
• Coordinate scheduling, tests and prior authorizations; manage EPIC EMR.
• May perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, phlebotomy after competency.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions. **Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency* 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.* Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.* Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.* BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.
