Job summary

Norman Regional Health System is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant for day shifts in a busy clinical setting. The role involves patient screening, gathering pertinent information, and assisting clinicians during visits in line with age-specific needs.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent with an accredited Medical Assistant program, BLS certification, and preferably CMA/RMA credentials.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification required or renewed during orientation; maintained throughout employment.
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screens patient and obtains pertinent information.
  • Assists physician or advanced practitioner during patient visit in accordance with age specific needs.
  • Assists the physician or advanced practitioner in all aspects of patient care and communication as instructed.
  • Maintains the exam rooms and work environment.
  • Provides support to the clinic as needed.

Skills

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
CMA or RMA preferred

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited program in Medical Assistant Training or equivalent experience required.
Experience
  • Prefer at least one year experience in a clinical or physician-office setting, emergency room and/or a hospital setting that provides patient care.
  • Prefer medical office, insurance, referral and prior authorization, hospital or computer experience.
  • Experience in office clerical activities desirable.

(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)

Licensure/Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained for duration of employment.
  • CMA or RMA preferred.
Compensation/Benefits
  • $15.46-$25.24/hr depending on previous work experience.
