Job summary

Virtua Health in Camden is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient examinations in Lourdes Ambulatory. You will obtain and document vital signs, take medical history, and assist the provider under supervision in a busy outpatient setting.

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with current MA certification is required; BLS certification is also needed. If working in Delaware, certification must be completed within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant; BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam.
• Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing.
• Administers vaccines and completes required documentation.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. under physician supervision.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol.
• Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results under physician supervision.
• Performs daily regulatory testing and documents to ensure equipment accuracy and compliance.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties such as registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Summary

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint. Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Qualifications

• 0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.
• Required Education: HS diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
• Training/Certifications/Licensure: Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate

$19.54 - $29.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
