Job summary

Northern Nevada Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for Northern Nevada Medical Group. This full-time role supports physicians in examinations, procedures, and patient flow within a busy clinic.

You will measure vital signs, prepare rooms, document in EMR, and assist at front desk as needed. Benefits include medical coverage, retirement plan, and day-shift schedule in a family-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (clinic protocol).
• General medical office procedures.
• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (clinic protocol).

Responsibilities

• Participates in decision-making and process improvement.
• Ensures patient rooms, nursing station and storage rooms are stocked, clean, and equipment is kept clean per infection prevention standards.
• Distribute referrals as necessary to physicians and insurance companies; document referral requests/responses in patient charts.
• Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
• Phone/faxing patient prescriptions as necessary.
• Schedules Diagnostic Imaging studies, dietician appointments, cardiology testing, and radiology testing for patients, and completes all paperwork.
• Accurately performs clinical duties: triaging patients, checking vitals, administering injections and venipunctures, prepping patients for exam.

This Medical Assistant opportunity is full-time, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required.
